Instructions for translators

This project is used for the translation of the AntennaPod website. New source strings are automatically pushed to Weblate. Once in a while we review the translations and push them to our website. Once quality and coverage is deemed high enough, we (manually) enable a language on the live website.

Please follow the translation guidelines below. This will help ensure accuracy and avoid mistakes.

  1. Machine translation: Please do not use machine translation without reviewing and editing.

  2. Understand the context: Try the app and understand the context before you start translating.

  3. Be consistent: Use consistent terminology, tone, and style (grammar, punctuation, capitalization) throughout the translation.

  4. Be concise: Translations should be concise and to the point. Avoid using long sentences or complex words that may be difficult to understand.

  5. Use simple language: Use simple language that is easy to understand. Avoid using jargon or technical terms.

  6. Be culturally sensitive: Avoid using language that may be offensive or inappropriate. Use gender-neutral language whenever possible.

  7. Proofread: Always proofread your translations before submitting them.

  8. Be aware of character limits: Make sure your translations fit into the space available.

  9. Communicate with developers: Use our forum to communicate with developers to ensure that translations are implemented correctly.

  10. Get feedback: Get feedback from other translators to improve translations over time. If you are unsure about a translation, use our forum to get clarification.

    Do you want a new language to be added? Please request it on our forum. The reason that we have this process is that we want to know key translators of our website, in order to facilitate our quality control process. Thank you for your understanding and interest!

Discovery and search services: When opening the Discover screen in the app, it sends a call to Apple to collect podcast suggestions. They may store the query, including country (which by default is the device's country). These suggestions can be disabled by choosing "off" in the region selector. When using the search feature in AntennaPod, the services PodcastIndex.org, Apple Podcasts and fyyd may store your query, including the search terms. Discovery and search queries also include IP address, time, and app name "AntennaPod". After subscribing, the feed is served from the podcast hoster, meaning the discovery/search service is no longer involved.

The only case where your data from 3rd parties is handled, is when using a synchronization service if enabled via the settings. In that case, the app may receive subscriptions and playback events provided by the service.
Der einzige Fall, in dem deine Daten von Drittanbietern verarbeitet werden, ist die Verwendung eines Synchronisationsdienstes, wenn dieser in den Einstellungen aktiviert ist. In diesem Fall kann die App vom Dienst bereitgestellte Abonnements und Wiedergabeereignisse empfangen.

The app only records data strictly necessary for the app to function. This includes for example the list of podcasts you follow, the app settings, and authentication data provided for specific podcasts or services (such as synchronization services). The app does not include any advertisement libraries or any 3rd party tracking (analytics) code, such as Google Analytics.
Die App erfasst nur Daten, die für die Funktion unbedingt erforderlich sind. Dazu gehören z. B. die Liste der Podcasts, denen du folgst, die Appeinstellungen und Authentifizierungsdaten, die für bestimmte Podcasts oder Dienste (wie Synchronisierungsdienste) bereitgestellt werden. AntennaPod is officially published only in the two app stores above because we don't have the time to support more. All other stores listing AntennaPod copied the app without our explicit permission. We are not responsible for updating those or making sure they work correctly. The F-Droid repository is not maintained by us, but by the people behind F-Droid. F-Droid usually takes a few days until updates become available ([read more](/documentation/general/f-droid)). If an update is still not available more than a week after its release, feel free to let us know by creating a post on our [forum](https://forum.antennapod.org/) and we'll investigate it.
