If you want to contribute a new language, please create an issue listing all usable letters (particularly diacritics) and symbols in your language, so that fonts could be extended if need be, and appropriate technical information could be added to the "info" section.
Unless you are the main author of a given localization, do not edit existing translated strings without discussing it in a Github issue first. This includes abridged words used in menus or the word "zone" replaced with empty strings on title cards, some strings are the way they are for a reason. This does not apply to the "info" part which contains technical information.
If you contribute to an existing translation and want to be credited, please add your name to the authors_contrib field in the JSON (comma-separated). The mantainers reserve the right to remove a credit if the author's contributions are not substantial enough, e.g. correcting a typo is too minor. Due to the way end credits work, we cannot afford to stretch them too much.
Untranslated strings are first come, first serve.
Specific instructions
Please ignore the "comment" section, we're going to remove it.
Zone names all follow a convention: alliteration, and a first letter is not repeated twice. If you choose to translate zone names, please follow the same convention, in this case you're allowed to use completely different names as long as they fit in with the theme of the level. Of course, this not being a simple exercise, and also not something Sega themselves routinely do, you can forgo translating zone names entirely.
Ditto for the HUD: if you think the HUD works better in English than in your language, keep it in English (Sega themselves are not consistent with this).
